3KCBWDAY5: Something a Bit Different
Something A Bit Different
“It’s back, and this time it has the most amazing of prizes (look for the prize for ‘most creative post’). This was a massive success last year, and for many it was the highlight of the Blog Week, so this year you are challenged, again, to find a new way of blogging.
This is an experimental blogging day to try and push your creativity in blogging to the same level that you perhaps push your creativity in the items you create. There are no rules of a topic to blog about but this post should look at a different way to present content on your blog.”
I was initially going to post a comic, but I thought I had an additional day to work on the sketches. . . And then I really didn’t want to have to explain why the characters are anthropomorphic ducks. . . And then I couldn’t get one of the two last panels to look right. . . So I went a different direction for today’s post. (Which is a shame because a few of the drawings I did for that comic actually turned out really well!)
When all else fails? Poetry!!! (Or. . . something like it.) ;)
An Ode to Knitting
I can’t remember what it was
that first drew me to the knitter’s call
Useless balls of novelty fuzz
or the beautiful Ishbel shawl?
It took me two tries
before I finally learned to knit
Yelling, cursing, and tearful eyes
are how I got through learning it.
Of course I spent my time
By knitting scarf after scarf after scarf
As if it’s some sort of crime
To knit the same project ’til I barf.
I’ve grown so much as a knitter
and learned many a thing
like how I’m glad I’m not a quitter
and how the feel of yarn and needles makes my heart sing.
And then I made my craft blog
–what the hell was I thinking?!–
I’ll even post when lost in a sleepless fog
or while trapped on a boat that’s sinking.
(“So this is the weirdest thing–is there supposed to be water up to my ankles inside my room? Here are some photos! Opinions, please?“)
Would you like to know the best part?
The list of things to learn never ends!
But best of all, the warmth in my heart
That I get from my new crafty friends.
I’ll let you take a moment to wipe the sap from your computer screens. :p
